Culver, Indiana – A Unique Midwest Community

My hometown is rather unique. It isn’t just the little town of Culver. It actually needs to be characterized as four sections combining together to make a special blended community.

The town limit of Culver is not really all that large and the population of the town seems to average around 1500 to 2000 year around residents. Adjacent to the town is the Culver Academy. This world renown private boarding school is over 100 years old and has educated children from all over the world, some quite famous. The students from the local school and the academy compete in sports and share special friendships. The school has many wonderful activities that the local folk are also able to enjoy. Thirdly there are the lake residents that swell the population in the summer. And lastly (but not least) we have a wonderful farm community. The four different populations blend together to make a nice melting pot of interests and activities for the area residents.

One can be busy in town at our interesting shops and wonderful eateries, go to parades, hockey games, polo or Woodcraft Council Fires at the Culver Academy, spend the day fishing or sailing, and go to an ice cream social at one of the country churches.

It has been interesting for me to have grown up in Culver and gone to the local community school, but also had friends at CMA, lived on the lake and also had grandparents that lived in the country. Now the cycle has continued, my children attended both the Culver Community School and graduated from Culver Military Academy, we live on the country farm and continue to own our lovely lake home. As such, it is fun for me to help people looking for real estate in all the surrounding areas of Culver.
